Dear all,

We are glad to announce that the Nuclear Protection Evaluation Centre (CEPN), the Heath Protection Agency (HPA), the French Institute for Radiation protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN), the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority (NRPA) in cooperation with the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) will organise the third European Training Course on:

“Rehabilitation of Living Conditions in Long-Term Contaminated Territories After a Nuclear Accident or a Radiological Event: Preparedness and Management”

at CEPN in Fontenay-aux-Roses (France) from the 30 March to the 2 April 2009.

The main objective of the course is to provide fundamental knowledge and practical advice for those interested in the preparedness and management of the rehabilitation of living conditions in contaminated territories following a nuclear accident or any other event with long-term radiological consequences for the population.

The main course topics will be the following:

- Characterisation of long-term exposure
- Existing principles and criteria of management of post-accident situation
- Management options for contaminated food productions systems
- Management options for contaminated water resources
- Management options for contaminated inhabited areas
- Management options for contaminated waste
- Radiation monitoring
- Health surveillance
- Stakeholder involvement: method and illustrations
- Preparedness to a situation of rehabilitation

The first announcement and the tentative course programme can be found in attachment. If you are interested in attending the course, you can fill and send the pre-registration form attached. This will not commit you to attend the course, but it will help us to prepare the course effectively.
